Happenings of Late

I suck at updating lately all I do these days is go to work, go work on the house, and then go to bed. I haven't been on my computer since about the last time I updated!!
We have got a lot done on the house lately!!!!!
We FINALLY got our fence up everything but the chain link part and our huge gate for our driveway!! Those are the "historical rose bushes" I'm thinking about chopping them down. (sorry the picture is really blurry)
We got our new front door in!!

We tiled our shower!!

Getting so close, hopefully!

The Stripe Saga

Ok I kinda lied in my last post, I thought about it a lot and there not going to be any changes made to this blog other than I'm going to try to post more. However, there are a lot of changes being made in my life, like the new business I am starting, but that a whole another story for a whole other blog which is coming soon.

Any way at the house we had a huge problem. Remember the stripes we are doing on our living room ceiling? The story starts like this....
We taped everything off, which took 2 days and 3 rolls of expensive tape
Then we painted the yellow and at this point I wasn't sure about the look.
Then we peeled off the tape and this happened...
On almost every stripe, I wanted to cry and I almost did, I was so upset about this.
and It still looks like that because I can't bring myself to work on it more, should we just paint it all yellow, all white, or fix the stripes? What do you guys think??

We also moved the back door!!!

Progress?:

Transformations

Take a look at this beautiful molding my dad did!!!
It's so pretty it makes my heart melt and now it's even prettier because the in-laws came this weekend and helped us paint!! After we were done JRP and I just stood in our bedroom, in awe of how this once ugly, ugly, ugly room is now one of our favorites!
We also painted the kitchen!!! I wanted just a hint of color, so I picked out this color that I thought it would be just the hint we needed, but it was more like a shock of color!!!! It looked like a teenage girl's room! It was BRIGHT!!!!
So I took the trim paint (white) and mixed it to tone it down!
And it turned into this....
It was worth painting it 4 times I love it!!
We also picked out all the walls and ceiling colors!!!
And we are going with stripes in the living room!!!! I can't wait!

White, Striped, Zig-Zagged, or Yellow?

JRP and I have been discussing our ceiling colors for our living room for weeks!!
We need some advice! PLEASE HELP!!!
I hate white ceilings! I think they are boring, boring, boring!!!
So I thought yellow might be pretty, but JRP thinks its overwhelmingly bright!

Keep in mind our decor:

Here are some examples of yellow ceilings:
Tell me what you think we should do!

I LOVE the stripes or zig-zags, but it would be sooooooo much work and JRP said I have to do it by myself!!!

These are the colors that we are going with in our house!
What should we do?

Love/Hate Relationship

The house and I have a love/hate relationship big time.
When we bought the house I LOVED it.

I loved the fireplace, the 80 year old molding, the original hard wood floors, and the original hardware on most of the door.

Then I hated the house when we started doing demo.
I hated the dust. I hated the plaster. I hated the bathroom tile. I hated the 1920's electricity. I especially hated the duct taped together plumbing. I hated that every choice I made I felt like was the wrong choice, like the outside color of paint. I hated dealing with the historical district. I even started hating the molding and the original hardware on the doors because what was missing couldn't be replaced!

Now I have started to fall in love again. I'm in love with the new molding that my dad put up to match the 80 year old ones in the living room. I love the paint that we are putting on the cabinets. I love how we demoed the house now that the dust is gone and so are the walls. I love the new drywall everywhere. I love the wood floor we discovered under the tile in the kitchen. I especially love that it is almost done!!!!! Pictures to come soon!!

Our first Before and After!!!

Before:

After:
Isn't it beautiful?
That faucet is one of the things that was stolen, but when we went back to Lowes to buy a new one it was on SALE!! Which made the whole thing a little better.
Quote yesterday from my dad "Wow, that's the first plumbing I have ever done that hasn't leaked." Thanks for instilling confidence in me about the rest of our plumbing, dad!

100 Pages of Pure Evil

Let me introduce you to 100 pages of pure evil.....

The Historical Preservation guidelines!
This is what I have been doing for over a month!
It all started with our house getting broken into
Then we tried to put up the our fence to keep this from happening again!
Well our crazy neighbor says that we have "histor
ical" rose bushes on our property and we can't cover them up with a fence!
HISTORICAL ROSE BUSHES!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!!
Well she called the historical society and the city on us.
And now I am having to memorize these 100 pages of pure evil.
I called the historical society myself and they say rose bushes cannot be considered historical, but now we have to jump through a bunch of loops to get up a dumb fence!! AHHHH
I will take a picture of my beautiful historic rose bushes for you all to see!

So while we get that figured out we moved on to texturing the whole house which is a lot more work than it sounds like!
We are trying to finish within the month, but I think we are dreaming on that one!
We have to get out of my parents house ASAP!!!
Pray for us!

Weekend off

JRP and I had to take this last weekend off from the house to take care of our puppy after his surgery. JRP's parents graciously let us keep him on their sun porch for a few days while he healed.
Remember our baby?
That's him the night when we first got him now he's so big!!

Here he is now! He loved being at their house they spoiled him rotten with bones, treats, and toys!

He also walked on the leash for the first time and did REALLY well! We were pretty proud parents this weekend can't wait to be able to walk him everyday!

Date night

I haven't done a wardrobe post in awhile mostly because all I have worn lately is work clothes, but tonight is date night with the hubby so I finally got to dress up! Forgive the awful pictures. I wish my husband cared enough about my blog to take my pictures, but I don't think he even knows what a blog is. Also, I am not model...

(Shirt: Forever 21, Skirt: Dillards, Cardigan: Target, Necklace: Forever 21, Shoes: No idea, Ross maybe)
I have that "I've been standing on a 10ft ladder painting the outside of my house in 90 degree weather" tan and I love it!
Ready for a big date night to the Melting Pot!!!! :)

In Between Before and After

On a lot of blogs you don't get to see the in between stuff that goes on. You just see before and then you think magically after just happens, while I have learned lately after magically does not happen.

We still have to take out that half wall and the doorway part of the kitchen, but already it looks a lot more open!

All new plumbing, new toilet and partially new subfloor.
My dad also leveled the floors, well as much as you can level the floors in an old house. Jason's dad, Bob, our neighbors, and I worked more on painting the outside we got a lot done, but we still have a long way to go.

Next on the to do list wiring and electric and better supports for the ceiling. Then we can start putting everything back together!!
